Year 1

Each term, learning in Year 1 is carefully planned around an engaging theme that builds on children’s early skills and supports their growing independence, curiosity and understanding across the curriculum.
Spring Term Theme Overview
In the spring term, Year 1 children will continue to develop their curiosity and thinking skills through the theme “Let’s Investigate…”. This theme encourages children to ask questions, observe closely and explore how things work.
Learning will be practical and enquiry-based, with opportunities for children to investigate materials, numbers, stories and the world around them. Children will be supported to explain their ideas, make simple comparisons and build confidence in applying what they have learned across different subjects.
The overview below gives a snapshot of the key learning for the term and suggests ways families can support learning at home, as children continue to achieve, belong and thrive in Year 1.
