Transition to Junior School
Moving to Key Stage 2
When your child is in Year 2, you must apply for a place at a Junior School or a local Primary School for entry into Year 3.
All admissions are managed by Telford & Wrekin Council Admissions Team.

Transition to Junior School
We have a strong transition programme with Wrockwardine Wood Church of England Junior School to ensure that the move from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2 is as smooth and supportive as possible.
What the Transition Looks Like
-
Autumn Term: Year 2 and Year 3 pupils meet for shared sports events, which continue through the year, helping children become familiar with their new setting.
-
Summer Term:
-
Once Junior School places have been confirmed, children attend multiple induction visits at different times of the day to experience the daily routine of their new school.
-
Additional visits are arranged where needed for children with SEND.
-
-
Staff Collaboration:
-
Regular transition meetings between Headteachers, SENDCos, Pastoral Leads, and Year 2/3 teachers ensure that all important information is shared.
-
These meetings help ensure that learning is not disrupted during the move to Year 3.
-
-
Teacher Introductions:
-
Year 3 teachers visit the Year 2 classes to begin building relationships and understanding children’s learning styles and friendship groups.
-
The Junior School SENDCo also meets with identified children and communicates directly with families.
-
Communication with Parents
Once your child’s school place is confirmed:
-
Parents receive regular updates from the Junior School.
-
You will be invited to information events and workshops to support the transition process.
